What is the pay scale?
It’s all for the glory (for now at least). At this time we are unable to pay but we’re working hard to find ways to make it financially possible to compensate contributing writers. Until then we do our best to make up for the lack of funds in other ways. For instance, we’re pleased as punch to ‘spread the word’ via author bios and links.
We’ll keep you posted. As soon as our ship comes in loaded with pound notes, you’ll be the first to know.
Do you accept email submissions?
We certainly do, in fact, that’s the only way we accept submissions. No snail-mail, please (and thank you).
What is your response time?
Can you give us 4 – 6 weeks? Ok then, we’ll go with that (faster if humanly possible).
Do you read year-round?
We do read year-round thank you very much.
What about multiple submissions and simultaneous submissions?
Multiple submissions? Sure. But let’s be realistic. We have a small editorial board and it simply isn’t feasible to accept willingly, read carefully, and respond thoughtfully to ten submissions a week from a single person.
We can only accept two (2) submissions per person. Once you’ve received our response give us a week or two and if you are still thusly inclined send along another submission.
Simultaneous submissions? Sure. But please let us know as soon as possible if your work has been accepted elsewhere.
Do you accept novel excerpts?
Sure. But please make sure that the excerpts are self-contained in that they stand alone as works of merit without the accompanying, you know, ‘rest of the novel’.
How should submissions be formatted?
Please no purple, squiggly fonts. Standard 12pt font, double-spaced, 1” margins, pages numbers… that sort of thing. We aren’t sticklers about formatting but the no frills, straightforward approach is preferred.
Do you accept previously published material?
No. Material that has been published online, in print, or has been broadcast is not eligible.
What about copyright?
By submitting you grant SIR permission to publish your work both online and in print however copyright remains with the author.
Do you accept submissions in languages other than English?
While we welcome international submissions, we can only accept manuscripts written in English.
